Your day begins with convenient pickup from your accommodation in Cape Town and surrounding areas. Meet your professional guide and settle into a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle as you are introduced to the day’s journey. As you leave the city behind, your guide will share insights into Cape Town’s history, geography, and what to expect along this scenic coastal route.

Sit back and relax as you return to Cape Town via Sir Lowry’s Pass, a scenic mountain route offering sweeping views of vineyards, valleys, and the coastline below. On a clear day, you may even catch a final glimpse of False Bay stretching into the distance — the perfect way to end a memorable day of coastal exploration.

Arrive in the charming seaside town of Hermanus, famous for offering some of the best land-based whale watching in the world. Enjoy time to stroll along the scenic cliff paths, where elevated viewpoints provide excellent opportunities to spot southern right whales during the season (July to November). Your guide will help identify marine life and share fascinating facts about whale behaviour and migration.

For a more immersive experience, you may choose to join an optional boat-based whale watching excursion (own expense). Departing from the harbour, this guided trip takes you out into Walker Bay, where you can observe whales up close in their natural environment. Continue to the stunning Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, one of South Africa’s most prestigious wine regions. Surrounded by rolling vineyards and mountain backdrops, you’ll enjoy a curated wine tasting at a carefully selected estate. The region is especially renowned for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, influenced by the cool coastal climate. Relax and take in the tranquil setting while sampling world-class wines.

On select days, or if wine estates are unavailable, the tour may include a visit to the Stony Point Penguin Colony in Betty’s Bay. Walk along the boardwalks and observe African penguins in their natural coastal habitat, along with other birdlife. This stop offers a quieter and more intimate alternative to Boulders Beach.

Enjoy a relaxed stop at a local farm stall, a highlight of South African road trips. Here you can stretch your legs and enjoy freshly brewed coffee, homemade pastries, and traditional treats (own expense). Browse locally made products such as preserves, baked goods, and artisanal snacks.
